Soccer is an all-weather sport, but participant safety is paramount. Games may be impacted due to severe weather. This may include rain, lightning, high winds, hail, tornado warnings, or any other unforeseen incident that may be deemed a safety issue. Alamo City SC will follow the guidance of local and statewide weather reports and will consider field conditions when making a determination. If there is severe weather in other areas of the state that pose travel risks to participants, games may be impacted. For example, wide-scale flooding, tornadoes, large and severe weather systems and hurricanes. Recognizing that teams may travel long distances and incur travel costs to participate, Alamo City SC will provide the earliest possible notice if a game will be affected.
Games may be stopped and/or cancelled if a weather warning is issued that is deemed a safety issue to participants. All participants are required to follow the direction of the Referees and Alamo City SC Staff, including clearing fields, etc.
In the event that lightning is detected within 12 miles of Alamo Sportsplex,, games will be stopped immediately. At that time, the fields must be cleared immediately. No outdoor team/group/referee meetings are allowed during this time. Field clearance consists of leaving the fields, trees, shelters, and returning to sit inside vehicles. This is the safest course of action and is mandatory. Games cannot resume until 30 minutes after the last strike to occur within 12 miles of Alamo Sportsplex.
